Twitch warns of new DMCA takedowns 👾

Twitch has sent an email to creators over the weekend saying it received a batch of 1,000 individual DMCA takedown notices. All of those claims involve archived broadcasts. Twitch also warns creators that rights holders are using automated tools to find violations.


Sony bets big on music acquisitions 💵

Sony Music confirmed that it has spent $1.6b on acquisitions.

These include:

  • The $430m acquisition of AWAL and Kobalt Neighbouring Rights

  • The $255m acquisition of Brazilian label Som Livre

  • Sony Music Publishing’s buyout of Paul Simon’s song catalog.


BTS sets new Spotify streaming record 🔥

BTS broke the all-time record for day-one streams on Spotify last Friday with new single Butter. It was confirmed the track racked up 20.9 million global plays in its first 24 hours on the platform. Although, some 9.86 million of these plays were discounted.


TikTok set to launch TikTok Radio 📻

TikTok is launching TikTok Radio, a full-time SiriusXM music channel going live this summer. The station will be available in vehicles and as a streaming channel on the SiriusXM App, desktop, and all connected devices.


Metallica will donate $1.6m this year 🤘

Metallica, with their Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) will launch a $1.6m fund to donate to 23 different community colleges this year. Always setting an example.
