Welcome back to a brand new issue of the Perfunktory newsletter!

Before we move forward, I strongly urge all of you to take utmost care of yourself and your family since Covid cases are on the rise again. Hope that it does not get to the level of the second wave which was devastating. Take care and mask up!

In the previous issue, I shared the best bookmarks that I gathered over the last year on topics such as Web3, Community, Venture Capital, NFTs, DAOs and The Great Online Game. For this issue, I am going to cover the following topics along with some bookmarks which I really liked that might not be covered by these topics:

  • Startups

  • How to use Twitter

  • Pitch Decks

  • Life

  • No Code

  • Marketing

  • Miscellaneous

Some points might not be valid depending on the geographical location that you are based out of but I believe it does give you a ton of ideas on how you can start, even from a small FB Group.

I would always recommend people to start building a business on the sidelines first, developing a community around it and then moving on to monetise it through whatever product, service or tech you want to sell to your customers. Having a community around the product always helps as you can directly talk to your consumers, build trust with them and get them to adopt your products sooner.

How to use Twitter 🐦

As much as I read about this, I still can’t use Twitter that well. I am just not someone who can tweet consistently but I recommend everyone to start using Twitter as it is a great way to build your personal brand and connect to people as well. Again these bookmarks that I am sharing are just information that you can use but I would recommend you to just be YOU on these platforms. Don’t force it!

This thread from Florin Pop talks about what he would do if he was starting with 0 followers right now:

This next bookmark from Dickie Bush talks about a little bit of help that we all might in terms of telling our story:

If you can tell a compelling story, you can shape the world. But most people think they don't have any stories worth telling. And that's because they've never learned how to spot them. So here are 3 simple ways to find viral-worthy stories in small, everyday moments:

Next up, we have a thread from Aadit Sheth who talks about how to turn Twitter into a valuable asset. This guy has literally gamified how Twitter and tweets work growing by some 120k followers over the last year. I would not recommend the approach he has taken because this will take over your life with the constant checking and replying, just take the best bits from his story and you’re good to go!
